Course Description
Starting in the open fields just north of the main parking area, the course runs south along the Orchard Beach Boardwalk. This section of the course is wide, flat and fast for just over 1/2 mile before turning into the woods. The next half mile runs through the woods at the south end of Pelham Bay Park. Emerging onto the paved path following City Island Rd, the course turns north running past the large traffic circle at the center of the park. Turning right into the forest, the race winds through the trees then past the main parking area before heading onto Hunter Island. The Hunter Island course is twisty, winding, undulating, and narrow in sections. Pay close attention to the course markings on Hunter Island as this section of forest trail is full of unexpected turns and is an easy place to get lost! Once you reach the wide wooden foot bridges, you’ll know that you are near the finish. Only a short stretch of grass separates you from your destiny - the Mud Pit!
Overall this course features a variety of different terrain - dirt trail, pavement, grass, water crossings, and plenty of obstacles to keep you guessing. The first half of the course is relatively flat, but Hunter Island has some rolling hills and short climbs.
