Course Description

The 6.2 mile course follows a variety of trails and covers a multitude of surface types. The race begins, by following dirt/hard packed service roads over rolling terrain before emerging into a large grassy field and the first obstacle. After completing the obstacle, the course dips into the woods behind the Chamounix Mansion Youth Hostel. The ensuing mile of trail through a shady, scenic section of the Fairmount Park Forest features some narrow sections and steep downhills. Once again, the course will exit the woods and empty into a grassy field, containing another obstacle. Upon completion of this obstacle, the race will cross Chamounix Dr and turn towards the Fairmount Park Recycling Center. After a short stretch of pavement, athletes will once again hit wide, fast, dirt trails. At the bottom of a speedy downhill, known as “Parachute Hill” the race will turn back towards the Belmont Plateau, but don’t get too excited just yet, a 1 mile grassy loop around the Plateau and two final obstacles away you before the crawl through everyone’s favorite obstacle, the Mud Pit! While the race has its share of twists and turns, uphills and downhills, this course will be manageable for people of all ability levels.
