Course Information

5K Course Description

Mile 1

The course is relatively flat with a couple of rolling hills in and around Sand Creek Greenway Trail. Runners will begin inside the Aurora Sports Complex and head directly toward the creek and the trail system. Once on the other side of the creek, follow the creek bed trail through the water and sand traps toward the Bull Ring.

Mile 2

Upon exiting the Bull Ring enjoy the wide gravel trails and head back toward the creek before you hang a left and head up the rolling hills of East Denver. Continue along the great trails and get ready to make some friends along the next mile.

Mile 3

Don’t worry about your new prairie dog friends, they are just skittish and are letting their friends know you are coming, or maybe they are cheering you along. As you make your way back down check out the great Denver skyline and beautiful mountains before joining back up with the trail. For the 5k runners, this is where your journey starts back towards the finish as you make a right turn then left turn and head back across the creek. 10k runners will continue to mirror the Greenway approaching the golf course. Once across the creek, 5k runners will follow the north edge of the tree line and quickly arrive back at the main site and the finish line.

10k runners will continue their trek along the golf course and began on the High Line Trail.

Mile 5

After Paralleling Colfax for a short bit, 10k runners will jump back into the narrow trail system of the Greenway and start toward the Finish Line. Be careful along the narrow trail with the twists and turns of these infrequently used trails.

Mile 6

After emerging back in the Aurora Sports Park you will begin to see the sights and sounds of our main expo alive with all the previous finishers. This flat stretch will allow runners to stride it out as they finish up a 6.2 mile course in and around some of the best trail systems in East Denver.
